The Hydrology Section is manned by two Hydrologists, two Hydro-geologists, one Senior Hydro-Technician, two Hydro-Technicians, two Hydro-Technologists and two Assistant Hydro-technicians.
The mandate of the Hydrology Section is the collection, processing and analysis of river flow data to enable engineering design and the implementation of water resources projects, and to guide water resources management strategies. Activities of the section include:
o Monitoring river flow in the country's rivers
o Collection and processing of river flow data
o Hydrological analysis of river flow data
o Development of models for data processing and hydrological analyses
o Design and maintenance of hydrometric network (presently we have a network of 36 water monitoring stations spread throughout the country, ranging from cross-border flow monitoring stations, water control stations and water resources planning stations)
o Carrying out hydrologically based design work and waterworks constructions
o Hydrological database management.
